The Alcázar is a palace-fortress built by the muslim during their occupation in Spain. But most of the building we know today was made by the King Alfonso XI after the succesfull reconquest. It is protected by walls, four towers and it is decorated with a beautiful garden.
After the Spanish reconquest finished, the Queen Isabel de Castilla and the King Fernando de Aragón gave up the building to the Church and it was made into the headquarters of the Inquisition.
Later, when the Inquisition was abolished, the Alcázar became a local prison, then it was declared a national monument and was used by the army and finally it was given up to the Government.
