The former palace of the Paez de Castillejo family, a Renaissance building from the 16th century, now houses the archaeological museum of Córdoba.
The institution works for the conservation, investigation and diffusion of the material remains that belongs to the archaelogical heritage of Córdoba and provincia from the Prehistory to the Al-Andalus. You can also find an important dig of the Roman Theatre of Colonia Patricia Corduba, that was found in the underground of the building, which is now restored and situated in the basement of the Museum.
